Mr Terence Chia

 I have been joining Mr Chia's classes for two years (2021-2022) and here is what I have to say. Mr Chia's notes are meticulously designed that allowed me to understand the basics of rather complicated and massive topics that have limitless application questions. Understanding and internalising the fundamentals of Mathematics is extremely important as it firms up one's recognition of the topic tested behind each question, boosts confidence in one's approach of the question and reduces the tendencies of carelessness and presentation errors. In this case, Mr Chia's notes are perfect! Furthermore, Mr Chia's worksheets have a myriad of questions which has different difficulty levels and prepares students not only for A levels but also the more unseen and ingenious questions found in internal exams. In lessons, Mr Chia also has the gifted ability to teach and explain complex formulas in such a way that it remains etched in my mind, through the use of funny mnemonics and tips, tricks and strategies that make H2 Mathematics seem less daunting and more doable.

What separates Mr Chia from other tuition teachers I have been to is the special attention he gives to each and every student during trial exercises, to cater to students that have different paces of learning and different strengths and weaknesses. He would walk around to ensure that we are all on the same page, attempting the questions without careless mistakes and even motivate us when we struggle during the questions. Furthermore, Mr Chia' classes made me fall in love with Mathematics especially through the occasional hilarious jokes (that again did make me remember the intricate details about Mathematics) and the background knowledge and history about how Mathematics apply to our daily lives. Furthermore, he ensures that we do not burn out close to exam days by revising and revisiting extremely crucial key concepts and misconceptions through fun, creative and never-seen-before games that puts a test to our brains but also ingrain into our minds about basics that we might have forgotten.

Additionally, in order to excel in Mathematics consistent practice and clarifying is required and Mr Chia never disappoints. He has an arsenal of worksheets that are not only categorised by topics but also specific questions that are frequently tested. Furthermore, Mr Chia dedication to answer questions during his breaks and even between classes for those who have questions and queries from their own schools really reflects the amount of care he has for his students. I was personally struggling with U grades even after my prelims and Mr Chia's willingness to assist and guide me instilled the confidence in myself and I improved to a B. Moreover, Mr Chia looks out for each and every one of his students not only academically but also emotionally as he wholeheartedly understands the rigour and stress in JC.

All in all, Mr Chia's warm, friendly and jovial persona never failed to put a smile on my face during lessons and helped keep my spirits up as well. Furthermore, the tuition centre is really conducive, cool and well thought in the students interests which enticed me to attend physical classes rather than online ones. Not to forget, nearing the major A level exams, all the teachers in the tuition centre had put in a combined effort and gave last minute tips even if we didnt take the tuition for the subjects, which really made me feel as if I had a backbone of support from them. Once again, I would like to thank Mr Chia as well as Higher Nucleus for providing me with an unforgettable learning experience!
