Note: Mother Tongue B, H3 subjects and Project Work are not computed in the UAS score.

Note: Universities may consider other aspects of the candidate over and above the UAS score.

Sample Calculations for the new UAS Computation:

Example A

If a candidate obtained A, C, and C for H2 subjects and A for H1 GP, the rank points can be computed by simply summating the corresponding scores for each grade.

Rank Points = 20 + 15 + 15 + 10 = 60

This will be the best possible score as the candidate has achieved an A grade for GP.

Example B

Starting in 2026, the new RP calculation system will allow the contrasting H1 subject and/or H1 Mother Tongue to be optionally included on top of the H1 General Paper, depending on whether they enhance the overall RP.

If the candidate takes 4 H2 subjects, the 4th H2 subject will be regarded as an H1 subject.

If additional subjects are factored into the calculation, the score must be rebased to 70.

Consider the scores of this candidate:

  • A, B, B and C for H2 subjects – (the subject with the C grade here will be considered as an H1 subject)
  • C for General Paper
  • A for H1 Mother Tongue

If the 3 best H2 subjects and GP were included, the score would be: 62.5

20 + 17.5 + 17.5 + 7.5 = 62.5

This grade can be improved if we factor in H1 subjects.

If the 3 best H2 subjects, GP and H1 Mother Tongue were included, the score would be: 63.4375

20 + 17.5 + 17.5 + 7.5 + 10 = 72.5

Note that 72.5 is out of a total score of 80, so it has to be rebased to a score of 70.

Rebasing this score to 70: (72.5/80) x 70 = 63.4375

Some H1 subjects when included, may bring down the score and are not used for the computation.

If the 3 best H2 subjects, GP and 4th H2 subject (treated as an H1 subject) were included, the score would be: 61.25

20 + 17.5 + 17.5 + 7.5 + 7.5 = 70

Rebasing this score to 70: (70/80) x 70 = 61.25

H1 subjects and H1 Mother Tongue can be included if they improve the score.

If the 3 best H2 subjects, GP, 4th H2 subject (treated as an H1 subject) and H1 Mother Tongue were included, the score would be: 62.22

20 + 17.5 + 17.5 + 7.5 + 7.5 + 10 = 80

Note that 80 is out of a total score of 90, so it has to be rebased to a score of 70.

Rebasing this score to 70: (80/90) x 70 = 62.22

For this candidate, the inclusion of both H1 Mother Tongue and H1 subjects does not improve the rank points and will not be used.

The final Rank Point for this candidate is 63.4375.
