The Academic Mastery Programme (AMP) is Higher Nucleus Learning Studio's dedicated JC1 revision programme. Over three weeks, from 20 November to 7 December 2026, JC1 students go back over the core JC1 topics in H2 Biology, H2 Chemistry, H2 Mathematics, H2 Economics and General Paper, taught from the ground up in stand-alone sessions at our Bishan and Bukit Timah centres, so their foundations are solid before JC2 begins.

How to revise JC1 content before JC2

If you know you need to revise JC1 but are not sure where to start, work through these five steps in order.

  1. Start from your promo scripts. List every question where you lost marks and note why: you did not know the content, misread the question, or ran out of time. The topics that keep appearing are your revision list.
  2. Fix the foundations first. Some JC1 topics hold up everything after them, such as functions and differentiation in H2 Mathematics, chemical bonding in H2 Chemistry, and demand and supply in H2 Economics. Revise those before the topics that build on them.
  3. Re-learn before you re-practise. Doing more questions on a topic you do not understand repeats the same mistakes. Rebuild the concept first, then practise.
  4. Practise the way it is examined. Use A-Level style questions under timed conditions, and check your answers against how marks are awarded, not just the final answer.
  5. Space it out. Come back to each topic more than once over the holidays, testing yourself from memory each time, instead of revising it once in a single block.

AMP does steps 2 to 4 with you: a subject tutor re-teaches each topic from the ground up, then you practise exam-style questions in the same session. Steps 1 and 5 you can do on your own, and if you are unsure which topics to pick, send us your promo results on WhatsApp and we will help you choose.

Why AMP exists

After promos, the natural instinct is to race ahead to JC2. But JC2 does not replace JC1; it builds on it, and the A-Levels examine both years. A topic that never quite clicked in JC1 does not fix itself over the holidays. It comes back in JC2, with new material stacked on top.

AMP is built for the step that is easiest to skip: going back first. It gives JC1 students dedicated time and guidance to rebuild what did not stick, so their basics are strong before JC2 starts. Getting ahead on JC2 content is a separate programme, the JC2 Headstart Programme.

What makes AMP different

Revision, not a preview

Every session revisits JC1 content, taught again from the ground up rather than assumed.

Only the topics you need

Each topic is a stand-alone session of two to three hours. Book the topics your promos flagged, in one subject or several.

Five subjects, one centre

H2 Biology, H2 Chemistry, H2 Mathematics, H2 Economics and General Paper on one timetable, so revising several subjects means one plan, not five.

Dates and branches that fit

12 of the 23 topics run more than once, at Bishan or Bukit Timah, on weekdays and at weekends.

Who AMP is for

  • JC1 students whose promo results flagged weak topics.
  • JC1 students who passed, but know some topics are still shaky.
  • Students who want targeted revision on specific topics, not another full course.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Academic Mastery Programme (AMP)?

The Academic Mastery Programme (AMP) is Higher Nucleus Learning Studio's dedicated JC1 revision programme for JC1 students. From 20 November to 7 December 2026, it re-teaches core JC1 topics in H2 Biology, H2 Chemistry, H2 Mathematics, H2 Economics and General Paper in stand-alone sessions, so students can rebuild their foundations before JC2.

How do I revise JC1 content during the holidays?

Start from your promo scripts and list the topics where you lost marks. Revise the foundation topics first, the ones later topics build on. Re-learn each concept before practising it, then practise A-Level style questions under timed conditions and check them against how marks are awarded. Come back to each topic more than once over the holidays. AMP covers the re-learning and exam-style practice with a subject tutor, one topic per session.

How is AMP different from other year-end programmes?

AMP is revision, not a preview: it goes back over JC1 content instead of moving ahead to JC2. Each topic is a stand-alone session, so students book only the topics they need, across five subjects at one centre.

Who is AMP for?

AMP is for JC1 students who want to strengthen their JC1 content before JC2 starts, especially students whose promotional exam results flagged weak topics and students who passed but know some topics are still shaky.

When and where does AMP run?

AMP runs from 20 November to 7 December 2026 at HNLS's Bishan and Bukit Timah centres. Each topic is a separate session of two to three hours, held on weekdays and at weekends.

Do I have to attend every AMP session?

No. Each topic is a stand-alone session, so you can sign up only for the topics you need, in one subject or several.

Why do some AMP topics have two dates?

Topics with more than one date run more than once. You attend one of them, choosing the date and branch that suit you.

Which JC1 topics does AMP cover?

H2 Biology: DNA Structure and DNA Replication; Transcription and Translation; Control of Eukaryotic Gene Expression. H2 Chemistry: Introduction to Organic Chemistry and Isomerism; Alkanes and Alkenes; Reaction Kinetics; Chemical Energetics; Chemical Bonding. H2 Mathematics: AP and GP; Summation and Recurrence; Applications of Differentiation; Integration Techniques; Graphing Transformations and Techniques; Vectors I; Vectors II; Functions; Vectors III. H2 Economics: Central Problem of Economics; Allocation of Resources; Role of the Price Mechanism. General Paper: Session with Ms Yee Sukyi; Paper 1 with Ms Ng; Paper 2 with Ms Ng.

Can I join AMP over Zoom?

Yes. HNLS classes can be joined live over Zoom as well as in person at Bishan or Bukit Timah.

How is AMP different from the JC2 Headstart Programme?

AMP revises JC1 content. The JC2 Headstart Programme, which runs from October to mid-November, gets JC1 students ahead on JC2 content. Students can join either or both.

How do I sign up for AMP and how much does it cost?

WhatsApp us at 9787 3734 or use the contact page to reserve your topics and get pricing. Students taking more than one subject are handled as part of HNLS's Comprehensive JC Programme.
